Local Animal Health Certificate appointments across Flintshire

Avoid unnecessary journeys to a distant veterinary practice when preparing for EU travel. Our Flintshire service gives you a choice: a pre-booked collection appointment at Cei Meadows, or a convenient home visit within the available postcode catchment.

With clear guidance on microchip records, rabies vaccination and certificate timing, our team helps you prepare before you meet Ana for the final checks. For destinations outside the EU, we can assess pet export certificate enquiries separately.

Flintshire collection and home visits across North Wales

Collection at Cei Meadows. Pet owners from Connah's Quay, Flint, Shotton, Queensferry, Deeside, Hawarden, Buckley, Mold, Holywell and the wider region can choose our booked Flintshire collection point. The areas listed describe a collection catchment, not a guarantee of home visits.

Home visits. Standard visits start at £129 for one pet. The online postcode checker currently uses central Flint (CH6 5AP) as a provisional home-visit origin, separately from Cei Meadows. The first 10 miles are included; additional charges, where offered, are £10 for over 10–15 miles, £20 for over 15–20 miles and £40 for over 20–30 miles. Enter your exact postcode to check eligibility and price before paying.

The collection location and home-visit travel origin are deliberately separate. The final home-visit meeting address is confirmed in your booking correspondence.

You can choose the collection point even if a home visit is not offered at your postcode. Please use the ///basically.boosted.fidget meeting pin rather than relying on the broader Flint area. Check live availability and book your AHC. For other Welsh locations, browse our service areas.

Pet travel requirements and export certificates in Flintshire

Animal Health Certificates for EU travel. Most dogs, cats and ferrets travelling from Great Britain to the EU require an Animal Health Certificate unless an accepted alternative applies. We review your pet's microchip, rabies vaccination and intended route before the appointment.

Timing matters. The microchip must predate, or be placed at the same time as, the rabies vaccination. After a primary rabies vaccination, at least 21 full days must have elapsed before AHC issue; some vaccine schedules may require longer. An in-date booster normally preserves validity without a fresh 21-day wait. An AHC must be issued within ten days before EU entry.

Tapeworm requirements. Dogs going to Ireland, Finland, Malta or Norway generally need vet-administered treatment 24–120 hours before arrival. Tell us the first destination and ferry or flight schedule in advance so the necessary timing is checked.

Other destinations and exports. Travelling beyond the EU, moving overseas or transiting a third country? Ask our team about pet export certificate enquiries before choosing an EU AHC. Tests, treatments, permits and certificate rules differ by destination. Always consult official GOV.UK pet travel guidance.

Your pet will usually need:

  • A readable microchip

  • A valid rabies vaccination

  • Rabies vaccination given after microchip placement

  • Proof of microchip date

  • Proof of rabies vaccination history

  • Travel details, including your EU entry country and planned travel date

  • An AHC appointment within the correct travel window

Your Animal Health Certificate is valid for entry into the EU for 10 days after it is issued. Once you have entered the EU, it can also be used for onward travel within the EU and for re-entry to Great Britain, provided it remains within the permitted validity period.

How our Flintshire AHC appointments work

1. Choose a location and date. Enter your postcode and select the £99 Flintshire collection point or an eligible home visit from £129. Choose an appointment within the correct window before EU entry.

2. Upload supporting information. Provide owner and pet details, the microchip and rabies vaccination records, your route and first EU entry country.

3. We check your records. Our team reviews the information, prepares paperwork and follows up if evidence is missing or a travel date needs clarifying.

4. Meet Ana with your pet. Attend Cei Meadows at the confirmed time or be ready at your approved home-visit address. Bring every travelling pet and the original evidence requested for the microchip and final veterinary checks.

5. Travel with the AHC. Keep the signed certificate safe and accessible. Check the ten-day EU entry window and arrange any additional treatments needed for your journey.
