What to bring to Robinswood Hill

Every pet included on the certificate must attend. Bring the original microchip and rabies vaccination records requested during the document review, even if you have already uploaded copies. Keep dogs securely on a lead and cats in a suitable carrier. Let us know before the appointment if anything in your pet’s records or travel plans has changed.

Appointments are available on Tuesday and Friday mornings between 9am and midday, subject to availability. This is an arranged meeting with your vet, so please do not visit without a confirmed booking. Gloucester home visits are being arranged and are not currently available through this booking option.

Why choose our Gloucester Animal Health Certificate service?

Pet travel involves more than collecting a signed form. Your microchip evidence, vaccination history, owner details and itinerary need to fit together. Our Gloucester service combines advance document review with a local appointment, helping identify missing information before you arrive at the collection point.

Preparation before your appointment

Send clear copies of your records when requested. We use these to prepare the certificate and contact you if details need clarification. If your rabies vaccination evidence is incomplete, your usual veterinary practice may need to provide further records. Starting early allows time to resolve these questions.

Clear prices and a local meeting point

The standard Gloucester collection price is £99 for one pet, with multi-pet options shown during booking. Your appointment fee includes document review, certificate preparation and the Official Veterinarian’s final checks and certification. Choose a slot in the online diary and meet the vet at Robinswood Hill, with the pets and original documents ready.

AHC collection appointments for Gloucester and Gloucestershire

You do not need a Gloucester home address to use our collection point. We welcome owners who can travel to Robinswood Hill Country Park for a confirmed appointment, including those coming from Cheltenham, Stroud, Tewkesbury and the Forest of Dean.

If you are looking for an Animal Health Certificate near Gloucester, compare the journey to our Reservoir Road meeting point with the available appointment times. Owners from Cinderford and Lydney can also use the collection service if the location and diary suit their travel plans. The areas below describe our collection catchment, rather than a home-visit coverage boundary.

Gloucester, Cheltenham, Stroud, Tewkesbury, Cinderford, Lydney, Forest of Dean

Please allow time to reach the correct meeting point and complete the veterinary checks before any onward commitments. Check the address in your confirmation rather than travelling to a different entrance to the country park.

Preparing for pet travel from Gloucester

Choose the right certificate and appointment date

An Animal Health Certificate is used for pet dogs, cats and ferrets travelling from Great Britain to the EU. It must be issued within the 10-day entry window, with the issue date counted as day one. Tell us when your pet will first enter the EU, rather than only the date you leave Gloucester.

Check the rabies record before booking

Your pet needs a valid rabies vaccination and suitable microchip evidence. After a first rabies vaccination, at least 21 full days must pass before certification; some vaccines require longer. Ask us to check recent vaccinations or gaps in cover before choosing an appointment.

We also need your destination, transit countries, number of pets and details of the owner and person travelling. Tell us if someone else is accompanying your pet or if the journey involves a sale or change of ownership, so the appropriate certification route can be checked.

Requirements vary with the journey. Check the current GOV.UK pet travel guidance and our destination guides, including any treatment arrangements needed for your dog. For Northern Ireland or destinations outside the EU, contact us before booking to confirm the paperwork required.

Your pet will usually need:

  • A readable microchip

  • A valid rabies vaccination

  • Rabies vaccination given after microchip placement

  • Proof of microchip date

  • Proof of rabies vaccination history

  • Travel details, including your EU entry country and planned travel date

  • An AHC appointment within the correct travel window

Your Animal Health Certificate is valid for entry into the EU for 10 days after it is issued. Once you have entered the EU, it can also be used for onward travel within the EU and for re-entry to Great Britain, provided it remains within the permitted validity period.

How our Gloucester AHC service works

1. Check availability and choose Gloucester

Enter your postcode in the online booking form, select the Gloucester collection option and choose an available appointment. Check that the date fits your first EU entry date. If you are unsure about timing, ask us before paying.

2. Send your pet’s travel details and records

Complete the requested owner, pet and journey information. Upload clear copies of the microchip evidence and rabies vaccination history. Include all pets travelling on the certificate and let us know about any previous certificates or records that may help with the review.

3. We review the documents and prepare your AHC

Our team checks the information supplied and prepares the paperwork ahead of your visit. Respond promptly to any request for additional evidence. If your plans change after booking, tell us so the details can be checked before the final appointment.

4. Meet your Official Veterinarian at Robinswood Hill

Attend at your confirmed time with every travelling pet and the original records requested. Your vet checks identification, reviews the supporting documents and completes the required veterinary checks. The certificate is signed once the relevant conditions are met.

5. Keep your completed certificate ready for travel

Keep the issued paperwork accessible throughout your journey. Before departure, check that the names, pet details and itinerary are correct and that any required treatments have been arranged. Contact the team if a travel date changes after certification.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the Gloucester Animal Health Certificate collection point?

When can I book a Gloucester AHC appointment?

Collection appointments are available on Tuesdays and Fridays between 9am and midday, subject to the live diary. Use the booking form to check availability. If your travel date is close or your preferred morning is unavailable, contact us before making a booking.

How much does an Animal Health Certificate cost in Gloucester?

Standard collection-point prices are £99 for one pet, £129 for two, £149 for three, £169 for four and £189 for five pets on the same certificate. Eligible repeat collection appointments start at £99 and urgent appointments at £249, subject to availability. Additional treatments may affect the price. Your selected total is shown before payment.

Does my pet need to attend the collection appointment?

Yes. Every pet included on the certificate must attend for the Official Veterinarian’s identification and veterinary checks. Bring the original supporting records requested during document review. Keep dogs on a secure lead and cats in a suitable carrier.

Can I book an AHC home visit in Gloucester?

Gloucester currently offers collection appointments at Robinswood Hill Country Park. Home-visit coverage is being arranged and is not yet enabled in the Gloucester booking option. Check the locations page for other services or contact us to discuss your needs.

Can I use Gloucester collection if I live in Cheltenham, Stroud or the Forest of Dean?

Yes. You can travel to the Gloucester collection point from elsewhere, provided you have a confirmed appointment and bring every pet being certified. Owners from Cheltenham, Stroud, Tewkesbury, Cinderford and Lydney are welcome to book if the journey and available times suit them. These towns describe the collection catchment, not a home-visit area.

What documents should I send before my AHC appointment?

Send the microchip evidence and rabies vaccination history requested, together with the owner, traveller and journey details. Clear copies help us prepare the certificate. Your usual vet may need to supply further records if information is missing. Bring the original documents requested to the final appointment.

How far before EU travel should I arrange the certificate?

Book early, but choose a certification date within the 10-day window for first EU entry, counting the issue date as day one. Recent rabies vaccinations may affect eligibility. Check the GOV.UK timing guidance and ask us to check uncertain dates before paying.

Can several pets share one Animal Health Certificate?

Up to five pets can be included on one AHC where the journey meets the relevant requirements. Select the correct number when booking, submit records for each pet and bring them all to the appointment. Contact us first if you plan to travel with more than five pets or the pets are following different travel arrangements.

Can I arrange a certificate at short notice?

Urgent appointments may be possible where the diary and your pet’s preparation allow. Contact us with the proposed entry date, destination and available records before paying. An urgent booking cannot shorten a vaccination waiting period or replace missing evidence.
