A convenient local Official Veterinarian in North London

Whether you are planning a short break in France, travelling through the EU or visiting family overseas, we help make the certification process clear. Our team reviews the evidence in advance, follows up if something is missing and gives you an appointment with an APHA-authorised Official Veterinarian.

The NW3 collection point offers a straightforward alternative to a home visit, while covered North London addresses can choose the convenience of staying at home. In either case, every travelling pet must be present for identification and final certification.

AHC requirements and pet exports from North London

Animal Health Certificates for EU travel. Most dogs, cats and ferrets travelling from Great Britain to the EU require an Animal Health Certificate unless an accepted alternative applies. We review your pet's microchip, rabies vaccination and intended route before the appointment.

Timing matters. The microchip must predate, or be placed at the same time as, the rabies vaccination. After a primary rabies vaccination, at least 21 full days must have elapsed before AHC issue; some vaccine schedules may require longer. An in-date booster normally preserves validity without a fresh 21-day wait. An AHC must be issued within ten days before EU entry.

Tapeworm requirements. Dogs going to Ireland, Finland, Malta or Norway generally need vet-administered treatment 24–120 hours before arrival. Tell us the first destination and ferry or flight schedule in advance so the necessary timing is checked.

Other destinations and exports. Travelling beyond the EU, moving overseas or transiting a third country? Ask our team about pet export certificate enquiries before choosing an EU AHC. Tests, treatments, permits and certificate rules differ by destination. Always consult official GOV.UK pet travel guidance.

Your pet will usually need:

  • A readable microchip

  • A valid rabies vaccination

  • Rabies vaccination given after microchip placement

  • Proof of microchip date

  • Proof of rabies vaccination history

  • Travel details, including your EU entry country and planned travel date

  • An AHC appointment within the correct travel window

Your Animal Health Certificate is valid for entry into the EU for 10 days after it is issued. Once you have entered the EU, it can also be used for onward travel within the EU and for re-entry to Great Britain, provided it remains within the permitted validity period.

How your North London AHC appointment works

1. Choose your appointment. Enter your postcode, select our £99 NW3 collection point or a covered home visit from £129, then choose an available time. Make sure the date fits your EU entry plans.

2. Send the pet's records. Complete the owner, pet and travel information and supply clear copies of the microchip and rabies vaccination evidence. Include your first EU entry country.

3. We check your paperwork. The team reviews supporting documents before the appointment and contacts you if anything needs correcting or further proof is required.

4. Meet Martha and your pet. Attend the confirmed collection point or be ready for the scheduled home visit, with every travelling pet and the requested original records. Your OV checks the microchip and completes the AHC if eligible.

5. Travel with confidence. Keep the completed certificate with you and arrange any extra treatments required for the route. Check the certificate's entry window carefully.
