Dog Tapeworm Treatment for Norway, Ireland, Finland and Malta
If you are taking a dog to Norway, Ireland, Finland or Malta, tapeworm treatment is an important part of the entry requirements.
The treatment window
The treatment must be given by a vet no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours before arrival. The product must contain praziquantel, or an equivalent proven effective against Echinococcus multilocularis.
The record matters
The vet must record the required product information, date and time of treatment, and add the appropriate signature and stamp to the pet travel document.
Plan around ferry and flight times
Because the window is based on arrival time, not departure time, owners should work backwards from the expected border arrival when arranging the appointment.
