Returning to Great Britain with an AHC in 2026

The return journey is an important part of pet travel planning, especially for longer stays in Europe.

Using the AHC to return

Current government guidance says a Great Britain-issued AHC can be used for re-entry to Great Britain for up to 6 months after the date the pet entered the EU, provided the rabies vaccination remains valid.

Do not forget return tapeworm treatment

Dogs returning to Great Britain from most countries also need tapeworm treatment in the required window. There are exceptions, including direct return from Finland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Malta and Norway.
